Work Experience

Getting involved

Whitstable Maritime hosts a number of students for work experience.

Work experience ranges from one week to a few months, depending on the student requirements and time available. There have been students from different schools, levels and skills (eg KS4 to KS6) and we would like to offer local students the opportunity to participate again in 2026.

Areas where students can gain some experience include:

supporting social media campaigns
setting up volunteer interviews to develop media material
gaining wood working skills and an understanding of how these are used in traditional boat building and restoration
researching viability of establishing a membership scheme
supporting ongoing grant submission for the National Lottery Heritage Fund (Whitstable Maritime has successfully passed the 1st assessment stage and has been invited to make a full submission, exciting!)
